Take care of your Diamond Ring
Taking care of your diamond
A diamond may be one of the world's hardest substances known to man, but some simple maintenance and cleaning is needed to keep it looking its best. Skin oils, cosmetics, dirt and oils you come in contact with will dull your diamonds and cause it to lose its beautiful brilliance.
Give your baby a bath:
This is probably the simplest way to bring back the sparkle. Just soak your diamond jewelry in a bowl of warm water and mild detergent for 30 minutes then take a toothbrush and give your diamond a little scrub getting under the it on the inside of your ring, bracelet, or pendant, etc. Finally rinse in clean warm water. SAFETY NOTE: Always take care to cover the drain on your sink to prevent your baby from disappearing and make sure to pay dry with a soft lint free cloth or towel.
Take it to a professional:
This may be your best option. When taking it to your jeweler they will use an ultrasonic cleaner and a steam cleaning machine to get under the prongs and clean the places commonly missed. They will also inspect your mounting and prongs making sure they are secure and not in need of maintenance. This professional cleaning should be done at least two times a year. Remember at Maus Jewelers it is our pleasure to provide this service to you for FREE.
